To be or not to be- thoughts for the weekend

Today is the start of the weekend for people in many parts of the world- a time to unwind and take time out for ourselves.

This is in line with Timothy Pike’s 6 commitments to make resolutions for a better life on which we have been thinking of this week. http://theimportanceofbeingedited.wordpress.com/commitments/

On weekends, we may set apart time for family, to do the laundry, to catch up on emails and work we left over from the week. But in the midst of all this chaos, we need to remember to take time out for ourselves. We are who we make ourselves to be.

In a quiet corner of the house, reserved for myself, I resolve to start thinking about myself. Who am I ? What is my purpose in this life ? What is my mission statement ? What are my goals ? What are my objectives ?

I am a human being and in addition, I am a woman. An educated woman, who has so much to give the world. A smile, a sweet word, an encouragement.

My mission statement : Make a better world building connections from the heart.

My purpose : To be a good communicator, through my talents- which as much as I can assess are writing, singing and caring for creatures who I perceive as needing care

My goals : To be a famous writer and singer

My objectives :

1. To write from my heart every day

2. Never to write a hurtful word to anyone

3. Create a smile wherever I go

4. Talk to people from the heart

So this weekend, I need to connect with my higher self ,pave the path between my inner self and my higher self. I need to study more. I guess I can do that next week.

August 22nd- Be an Angel Day

Today is August 22nd- It is the National Be an Angel day in the US. Why not let it be a ” Be an Angel day ” for each of us ?

It is in accordance with the theme for today – to give. https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/be-an-angel-day/

This is a special day in which we are reminded of being an angel in someone else’s life.

1. Can I be kind today and not complaining about what I don’t have ?

2. Can I forgive someone who has wronged me ?  Reach out to them and say I forgive you.

3. Can I thank people who make my life better ? Little deeds that make my day complete, but which I completely ignore.

4. Can I be patient today ? Let someone move ahead of me in a queue or allow someone to get into the road when I am driving by waiting a bit.

5. Can I pay it forward ? Start off a chain of kindnesses- like in the Movie.

6. Can I pray for others, who need and do not need my prayers ?

7. Can I share some of my things with others – my clothes, my books, my time, anything of me ?

8. CAn I surprise some one today- like send an email to some one who wants to connect with me ? Or an e card ? Or write a note for some one today ?

9. Can I share my talents with someone else ? Can I do some volunteer work ?

10. Can I be kind to the birds, the bees and the animals, and plants around me today ?

Do a good deed today.Pay it forward.

Friday’s – a day to be loving and giving

http://theimportanceofbeingedited.wordpress.com/commitments/

Today is a Friday, the start of the weekend for people in many countries. But even during times of relaxation, we need not falter from our path of motivating ourselves.

Today is a day of giving- remember the old poem- Friday’s child is loving and giving. It is a continuation of the thought of yesterday- to join up with others in order to create a strong construction in one’s life. As you receive, so you need to give.

So I have resolved today, to read through as many posts as I can with a sincere heart and offer heart felt comments- a kind word can make someone else’s day. I was reading Marsha O’Brien’s posts today and in spite of so much pain, she has so much to give. I really need to be like her. A kind word can go a long way. For that matter, even a kind thought. Most of my day is spent on my previous life and how I would love to revenge someone from my past life. I am making a resolution, here and now to think a kind thought for each of those persons’ who I feel has wronged me. May be I can call them or write to them and say I still think of them, not mentioning of course that I have thought evil thoughts about them.

Action points for me :

1.Listen to my child when she talks

2. Appreciate my spouse through a smile or a kind word

3. Contact one of my ” enemies” and try to talk to them

4. Comment on someone I don’t know yet’s posts

5. Smile at an unknown person today

6. Be kind to an animal or bird today

The Baker’s dozen – a little extra for Thursday

Continuing on with motivations for each day of the week, inspired by Timothy Pikes’ 6 commitment series which can be found at :  http://theimportanceofbeingedited.wordpress.com/commitments.

I need to join up today.

Thursday is the day to connect- to join a new group of human beings. People and opportunities to meet people come the way of everyone. No one has to be alone. We need to open up to connect.

Why should I connect ? I am an introvert- I like to be left alone. To share things, to get readers for your blog, to find people to publish you, to talk things out, to feel better about yourself, to make some one else feel better- all good reasons to connect.

In what ways could I connect with others ?

1. Join a gym and talk to the gym clerk as a friend – maybe you will make a friend

2. Walk in the park and smile at one total stranger today- if it is a good day, that person will smile back, and maybe the smile will lead to a “Hello”.

3. At work, share a cup of coffee with one of the persons everyone avoids at office ( there is always someone).

4. Talk your problems out with your spouse or your children and connect. It is only when you share that they know you have some hidden need.

5. At the shopping mall, say Hello to the cleaner there. May be that will make his/her day.

6. In the blog world, read someone’s article with an open heart, appreciate the feelings behind the post and then write a comment- it will not take a minute but it may mean everything to that person. Comments are better than likes, believe me.

All these connections will help us build up our network. Each of these connections will release a little bit of positive energy into the universe, which all adds up.

Why do the leaders at religious places tell us to pray for someone who is sick or needs prayers ? Why do we pray for someone else’s well being ? It is the same principle.  Little prayers are little connections which release little bits of positive energy and when they join up, a huge fusion reaction takes place. Perhaps that act of joint prayer from all over the world will join up and move mountains.

I have read somewhere that life is a journey and that each of us is a piece under construction.

When we reach the end of our journey, the construction that is our life, is near complete. Each person we talk to or interact with, positively or negatively, constructs our life. No one is bad. Even the people we label as bad or unkind to us are actually people who have a hand in our construction.

So our life is built upon the help we receive from others.

If I connect with one person unknown to me today, I get a little extra for my life- my construction goes up a little more and my foundation a little deeper. Like the Baker’s dozen – one extra egg for every 12.

To my daughter

photo

There are things I want to tell my daughter, before it is too late. Before she leaves our home for college.

1.I love you a lot. I have tried to be a good mother but often have been selfish in that I could not give you my full attention while you were growing up.

2. I want to thank you for all the cards you make for me throughout the year- over the years- birthday, Mother’s day, Woman’s day, Anniversary, X’mas. Thank you for all these cards. I will cherish them and try to keep them as long as I can as my memories of you. ( PS. You know I use them as book marks, in all the books I read, so i don’t lose them and can look at them often).

3.You are a very artistic person- do not lose the art as you grow older. Pursue it. Look at creation with an eye of wonder and create new things inspired by things around you.

4. Many things you see around you may make you sad. Remember you need to carve a niche in the world in your own way. You need to understand and perceive the sorrows and miseries you see around you. And you need to get involved to do what you can to do your bit. Don’t turn a blind eye to things. Participate. Feel. Do something. Be a candle bringing light to other people in the world.

5. I love it that you have been all inclusive in your friends- you have not discriminated against skin color, hair, religion, culture or language. You have friends among people whose language you did not know when you were smaller. But you managed to communicate with them in your own way, trying to speak like them to make them understand and they did understand you. Keep this nature of yours with you all your life.

Remember, the light of my life, I love you and always will.
