I was early taught to work as well as play,
My life has been one long, happy holiday;
Full of work and full of play—
I dropped the worry on the way—
And God was good to me everyday.

I love the simplicity here.

Great poem. I think John D. Rockefeller knew what he was talking about!

I would say his successful life was a good testimony of truth for this poem.

He was a very successful man. There used to be the expression “who do you think you are -Rockefeller’s daughter (or son)?” when parents tried to impress on you that “money didn’t grow on trees” unless you come from the Rockefeller family.

I love this, Susie! We are on the same wavelength this week. I’m writing this poem down and keeping it close by as a reminder to enjoy all of my life – the work and the play! And to drop the worries because God is good all the time. XO -Molly

God is good at all times. Only sometimes I need a microscope and a good kick on the butt to see where his goodness lies. I realise now what he meant when he said people with eyes don’t see- that is me he was talking about I am sure.
